XpressPrint Printing Guidelines

FILE TYPES : PSD, EPS, JPEG, TIFF, AI and PDF

Include only one format of the final product, either Photoshop, Illustrator, EPS, JPEG, TIFF, AI and PDF. We can accept other types of files as long as customer takes responsibility for errors and/or layout discrepancies. Please save artwork as 2 separate files when double sided, (i.e. Front side saved as 1 file and the back as another file). Artwork must have all links and fonts embedded, outlined or supplied. This will help maintain a nice, crisp typeface and avoid font substitution.

RESOLUTION

Artwork resolution must be a minimum of 300 dots per inch (dpi). DO NOT try to save a low resolution file up to 300dpi, i.e. Saving low resolution image will not become clearer when enlarged to a bigger format, you will only enlarge the pixels. But saving a high resolution down to a lower resolution will keep its clarity, i.e. 1200dpi down to 300dpi.

COLOR

Please make sure that files are submitted in CMYK Mode. If your files are submitted in any other mode such as RGB, Pantone, etc., they will be converted into CMYK. There can be unpredictable color shifts when converting from spot or RGB to CMYK.

If you have a solid area of black within a document, please use "Rich Black," as K: 100% will not work. Rich Black = C: 50% M: 40% Y: 40% K: 100%. DO NOT use "Rich Black" for text, text color should be set as K:100%. If this is not followed, it can create registration problems especially in small point size fonts and lines

BLEEDS

Any image that you want to bleed off the page must extend .125" beyond the finished size of the product. Any type that you do not want cut off must be within .125" of the trim size.

BORDERS

If your image has a border, please make sure that it is at least .25" thick and bleeds off the cut line, this is to maintain a symmetrical appearance. Because of printing and cutting registration, image can vary slightly.

BUSINESS CARDS

Set your document size to 3.625" x 2.125". Keep all text and logos at least .375" from the edge of your document.

FONT GUIDELINES

Convert all text in Adobe Illustrator to outlines. Use the package function in Adobe InDesign to gather all fonts, image links and your final document.

FILE COMPRESSION

Many times files can become corrupted when uploading or emailing. We recommend compressing files before uploading, you can easily do this by downloading any of the following: Winzip ( www.winzip.com ) or Stuffit ( www.stuffit.com ). Both of these are available as a freeware.
